Flyers Lose First Normal Game to Penguins: A Fan's Recap The Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins have mastered the art of wacky games in these Stanley Cup playoffs. This has turned their series into a freak show, yet Flyers fans like myself didn't mind since they were winning so many freak show battles. Unfortunately, Philadelphia couldn't clinch the series before things settled back to normal. Fleury, Penguins Settle Down Faster Than Bryzgalov, Flyers: A Fan's Take The Philadelphia Flyers turned the Pittsburgh Penguins and goalie Marc-Andre Fleury into amateurs to start the Stanley Cup playoffs. Of course, Flyers fans like myself couldn't brag too much, since Ilya Bryzgalov wasn't stonewalling the Penguins himself. However, the team which finally had their goaltender get back on track first would be in a pretty good position. Flyers' power-play unit still dominating PITTSBURGH - Conventional wisdom says the Flyers cannot go far in the Stanley Cup playoffs by allowing an average of about five goals per game. Flyers Must Root for Eastern Conference Playoffs to Get Tighter: A Fan's Analysis The Philadelphia Flyers may have had some big setbacks recently, yet they still hold a 3-1 lead over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Although Flyers fans like myself aren't breathing as easily anymore after Game 4, we can feel more at ease than fans of every other Eastern Conference playoff team. Philadelphia Flyers Resilient Regular Season History Matters: Fan's Take The Philadelphia Flyers were absolutely, positively, crushed by the happy feet of the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 4. I make zero apologies for referencing one of my all-time favorite animated movies in describing the game in that way either. Flyers Could Have JVR Back for Game 5: A Fan's Look The Philadelphia Flyers are hoping to wrap things up against the Pittsburgh Penguins when the two teams meet in Game 5 on Friday, April 20. There is a chance that one of their top players could be back for the key game. James van Riemsdyk has been skating with the team on a regular basis and could make his return at any given time. As a fan, I don't see JVR returning for Game 5. However, it is ... Flyers Have All the Pressure on Them for First Time: A Fan's Preview The Philadelphia Flyers have been facing adversity and big challenges all season. In fact, Flyers fans like myself can't recall when they didn't have to rally from deficits or major obstacles. Nothing has come easy for Philadelphia - which perhaps makes it fitting that things are finally getting harder against the Pittsburgh Penguins after all. Several Philadelphia Flyers Need Big Efforts in Game 5: A Fan's View The Philadelphia Flyers have had enough time to stew over the humiliating 10-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 4 of their playoff series. Now they have to get back to business and try to close out the Penguins in Game 5. This game is going to be huge because a loss would put a ton of pressure on the Flyers. In order to win the game, the Flyers need to limit the penalties and remain sharp ... Too Much Went Wrong for Flyers in Game 4: A Fan's Reaction The Philadelphia Flyers couldn't have asked for a worse performance in Game 4. Not only did the team not sweep but they lost in epic fashion. The Pittsburgh Penguins scored the final eight goals of the game to roll to a 10-3 win. As a fan, I was certainly unhappy with the way the team looked throughout this game. But at the end of the day, the Flyers still lead the series 3-1. It doesn't really ... Flyers Notes: Van Riemsdyk returns for Flyers in Game 5 PITTSBURGH - James van Riemsdyk returned to the Flyers lineup for the first time in 23 games Friday night.
